PART EIGHT

THE PART WHERE WE FIND OUT WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON … AND IT’S REALLY BAD!

I scrambled out of the end of the tunnel and exited the doghouse; Violet and Brian quickly crawled out right behind me, followed by Ferdinand. We were all breathing hard.

We laid out flat on the grass. It was strange to be in my normal, late-afternoon backyard after everything we had just seen. Ferdinand was back on all fours like nothing had changed. Nice try.

“Ferdinand, what was all that about? Speak!”

I looked right at my dog, but he was staring over my shoulder and barking. Then I noticed that Brian and Violet were looking in the same direction, with really goofy expressions on their faces. So I turned around to see what they were all gaping at, and that’s when I saw it. Violet took pictures, but she was pretty shaken up. This is the best one.
